Zakat & Wealth
Zakaat is the 3rd pillar of Islam. It is a mandatory 2.5% charitable contribution of surplus wealth required from every adult Muslim who meets the criteria of Nisab.
Zakaat purifies your wealth and heart from greed. It redistributes wealth to the poor, creating social balance and bringing Barakah (blessings) to your remaining assets.
Nisab is equivalent to 87.48g of gold or 612.36g of silver. For cash, it's roughly ₹60k-65k depending on the current market value of silver.
Fasts & Fitrana
Fidyah is compensation for missed fasts due to permanent reasons (old age/illness). It involves feeding a needy person for each missed fast (approx. ₹150/day).
Kaffarah is the penalty for intentionally breaking a fast. It requires fasting for 60 consecutive days or feeding 60 needy people (approx. ₹9,000 per fast).
Fitrana (Zakat-ul-Fitr) is a mandatory small charity given before Eid prayers to ensure the poor can celebrate Eid. It must be paid for every family member.
